HONOLULU — The Hawaii Pacific Area Combined Federal Campaign officially concluded with a ceremony at the Sunset Lanai on Camp Smith, Monday.Rear Adm. Vincent Atkins, the Coast Guard 14th District commander, presided over the event thanking all participants and passing the baton to Lt. Gen. John Toolan, Marine Corps Forces Pacific commander, as the next military agency to coordinate the 2016 campaign.The Hawaii Pacific Area campaign is one of the nation's largest and most successful campaigns. This season the region raised $4,128,877 from more than 18 thousand individual donors. "Giving together, making a difference was our 2015 campaign slogan," said Lt. Cmdr. Nicolas Jarboe, Hawaii Pacific Area CFC project officer. "The federal workforce of over 90,000 employees in the region embraced the opportunity to positively impact the lives of those around us and made a noticeable impact again this year."The CFC is the most inclusive workplace giving campaign in the world with over 22,000 charities benefiting from the campaign. The first CFC campaign was conducted in 1964 as an experiment in six cities. The result was a substantial increase in contributions over previous federal charity fundraising efforts. An annual fund raising campaign was highly favored by the federal community and has grown into a highly successful campaign.
