Overdue boater located safe in Friday Harbor, Wash.

SEATTLE — The Coast Guard located a reported overdue boater found safe in Friday Harbor, Friday morning. 

Ira Rote, 75, had been last seen near Friday Harbor aboard his 16-foot white, green and red wooden antique boat, named Small Fry, Thursday morning.

Rote was reported missing after his family had not heard from him since Wednesday.

The Coast Guard encourages all mariners to file a float plan leaving a detailed itinerary with family or friends letting them know where they plan to go and when they plan to be there. This information can be essential in helping search and rescue crews to know where to look if a mariner does not arrive as planned.
