Coast Guard searching for missing cruise ship passenger off Galveston coast

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard is searching for a missing passenger from the Carnival Liberty cruise ship 195 miles off the coast of Galveston, Friday evening.

Missing is Samantha Broberg, 33, who was reported missing from the cruise ship.

Watchstanders with the 8th Coast Guard District command center received a call from the master of the Carnival Liberty stating that they had a video of a woman falling overboard around 2 a.m., and that they conducted an accountable search for all passengers. Broberg was found to be missing.

The watchstanders directed the launch of Coast Guard Aviation Training Center Mobile, Alabama HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircrew to conduct a search for Broberg.
