Coast Guard searching for 8-year-old near West Point, Virginia

RICHMOND, Va.— The Coast Guard is searching for an 8-year-old boy who was seen going under the water Sunday in Mill Creek near West Point.  

Personnel from New Kent Fire and Rescue notified watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Hampton Roads at approximately 7:30 p.m. of the incident. 

A helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, North Carolina, is searching for the missing boy. 

New Kent Fire and Rescue is also assisting with search and rescue efforts.
