Coast Guard searches for missing kayaker in Quincy, seeks public assistance

Coast Guard and local authorities are searching near Quincy, Massachusetts, for a man who disappeared while aboard a kayak similar to the one pictured here.

BOSTON — The Coast Guard is searching for a missing Quincy, Massachusetts man Wednesday after he went missing while kayaking near Wollaston Beach.

At around 9:50 p.m., watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Boston received a report from Massachusetts State Police that 30-year old Kyle Rager was last kayaking in Quincy Bay in a grey 7-foot kayak. When he didn't arrive home as planned, his roommate reported him as overdue to the police. 

A 29-foot boat crew from Coast Guard Station Point Allerton launched as well as MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter air crew from Air Station Cape Cod. 

The Coast Guard along with the Massachusetts State Police and Quincy Police are searching all of Quincy Bay and along Wollaston Beach.
