NEW ORLEANS — The Coast Guard rescued two people stranded in the marsh north of West Bay, Thursday.
Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders were contacted at 1:59 p.m., by a PHI helicopter crew that had witnessed a man in the marsh, waving his arms and using distress signals to hail the helicopter.
An Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew was launched.
After arriving on scene, the helicopter crew hoisted aboard two people from the marsh.
The helicopter crew transported the people to Venice, where the local police department met them to transport them home.
Both people did not request medical assistance.
