Coast Guard medevacs man from cruise ship

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard medevaced a man from cruise ship approximately 100 miles south of Southwest Pass, Wednesday.

Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a request from the cruise ship Carnival Triumph to medevac an 84-year-old man suffering heart attack-like symptoms.

Sector New Orleans directed the launch of an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans, who hoisted the patient.

The aircrew transported the patient to Air Station New Orleans where they were met by emergency medical services and transported to West Jefferson Medical Center.
